I’m at the airport at Chicago - O’Hare International and totally bloggin’ about this right now because I just got in the mood. Yeah, I comped an outlet and I’m going hog it till I board my flight back to Philly.
Toro y Moi is 24-year-old Columbia, South Carolina native and resident, Chazwick Bundick. in 2009, Bundick earned a BFA in Graphic Design from The University of South Carolina. Chaz Bundick’s methods are constantly evolving. While heavily influenced by his parent’s vinyl and tape collection, his contemporary influences are Animal Collective, Sonic Youth, J Dilla, and Daft Punk.
Sometimes I like to go back to Toro y Moi time to time to get into the beat before a party - especially his ‘Causers of This’ album. Even though his ‘Underneath the Pine’ album was more raw and authentic in the band sound, it really put his music to another level to everyone. It was good for sure and it really struck a lot of people with his moves with it. Now Toro will be releasing his next EP titled ‘Freaking Out’ on September 13 via Carpark Records.
The sound is going back to it’s roots and it literally makes me happy that the synthy electro pop is flowing through my ears. I didn’t even know a video existed till today and this was the first song I liked out of this EP. I’m a firm believer that this track will take off very soon. Give this a gander and listen to Toro y Moi’s new EP sound and let me know what you think.
