Gwen Renée Stefani (born October 3, 1969 in Anaheim, California, United States) is a recording artist and fashion designer. Okay, well, most of you know her as the front lady of No Doubt and then she just sprung out of nowhere into this whole pop movement out of nowhere. It really took off and well, look at her now. She’s doing pretty damn well.
Over the weekend I was on turntable.fm (yeah, I know it’s kind of getting jaded) and one of my friends dropped this track on the turntables. I haven’t heard anything of Gwen Stefani in a long time like what, maybe a couple years and then this came out of nowhere. This is the type of style that is right up my alley that I’ve been loving lately. Even though this remix isn’t fully of the actual song, Lapalux really took remix to another level. He remixed this fully using his vocals and Gwen’s voice a a background shimmery chorus drop.
I love how at the beginning how you don’t know what to expect but get that R&B hip hop feel but when the synths come in, you know there’s some kind of James Blake type movement. That synthy slow dub vibe where the bass just drops and you just want to slowly bob your head back and forth synchronized with your body in motion. That’s what I get at least. I want to drop this at a DJ set sometime and see what the crowd get’s like. Give this a gander and listen to this gem.
Lapalux is going to get some mad props soon. I’m calling it now.
